I'm thinking of installing the "Mark 1V" under-dash AC unit by Vintage Air, on my '57 DeSoto Firesweep (V-8 90o 325 polyspherical) but I'm having some problems doing so.
I was speaking on the phone with the Vintage Air tech guys and they stated they don't know a lot about Mopars.
They didn't know what pulleys would be used on a '57 Firesweep (my car has no power steering), and advised me to check with other Mopar and Desoto owners to see if anyone has experience with such things.
They also need to know what type of compressor bracket would fit (for a V-belt 508 Sanden compressor).
Here's the AC unit: http://www.vintageair.com/catalog11/pg50wc.pdf
Here's the compressors: http://www.vintageair.com/catalog11/pg65wc.pdf
Does anyone have any info or experience regarding this type of thing: pulleys and compressor brackets, etc.?
(So far, I have this info?...
Hot Heads 508 compressor brackets...

On the same page is a link to pulleys.)
Thanks in advance!
I have no idea whether it would match up to any of the holes in your engine, but I do have an extra compressor mount bracket from the '56 setup.
Maybe somebody smarter than me would know if it would interchange.
It's supposed to be fun!

Don't know about brackets or pulleys, but I do know you
are going to have to go to a bigger radiator.
The 1957 Dodge used the same motor and would probably be a good place to look for the dual groove pulleys that you need that will bolt up with no modification.
When you need to charge the system and do not want to spend a fortune on R12 Freon you can get a replacement product named Freeze 12 that will work without modification.
Thanks for the info, guys!
