I don't have a "for certain" answer for you, but it was pretty common for those kinds of items to be stored under the front seat cushion. Maybe the rear seat, but that doesn't seem to be as likely.
If you keep the high speed maneuvers to a minimum, they shouldn't rattle around much!

1949 De Soto Custom Convertible (project)
In my 1936 they were stored under the front seat on the passenger side...the driver side had the battery. There were clips fastened to the floorboard that held things in place.
