Hats off to all of the more senior attendees at the NDC convention!
As an example: some of us thought that we had a long, hot drive to the NDC convention...that is, until we met folks like Ray and Ralph Nelson and their 1957 green Shopper Wagon.
These brothers are in their late eighties, and they drove their DeSoto from Santa Monica, California to Tennessee. They were up with the birds every day, and had no trouble keeping up with everyone; in fact they seemed to have more energy than most of us.
They are now driving their DeSoto to northern Michigan where they have a farm, and then they will drive the return trip to California. They reported that their DeSoto had no difficulties at all during their trip.
Ray and Ralph also keep busy with square dancing, and ball room dancing, and they can jitterbug with the best of them! And Ray is also a good hugger.
Ray and Ralph were among a great group of "elder statesmen" who attended the convention. All of these senior attendees were very informative as well as very inspirational, and I'd like to thank them all for their patience and willingness to share their knowledge with "newbies" such as ourselves. We're really lucky that we had so many of these very experienced DeSoto owners attend the convention.
I am glad they made the trip. The car is real nice. Cool. This IS very inspirational - I hope to do some of this type of travelling when I retire. Thank you for sharing with us Rosemary.
They were the Stars for sure. Drove from Santa Monica, CA and continued their journey before returning home. Hats off to them for such a memorable road trip.
