I've long held the assumption that the '55 and '56 DeSoto's were essentially the same car less the obvious 6 vs 12 volts, cid differences, etc. It's interesting to begin to discover the other differences in the production of the 2 different years.
Example;
The '56 Adventurer very clearly had the same gray on the back of the wheels that was used on the inner fenders and underside of the floorboard.
The '55 Fireflite Sedan we are currently disassembling has an almost "body color" on the back of the wheels, and then they are black on the front side. The inner fenders however have the same gray as the '56.
The color on the back of the wheels isn't really the same as the body. The spare with what appears to likely be an original tire is shown.
It's supposed to be fun!
