Does anyone know the modern paint code for the brown upper color on a 47 Suburban? I believe it is metallic.

Tim,
I went to http://www.autocolorlibrary and see that paint code 20301 for Rhythm Brown looks like the upper color you're asking about.

My advice would be to call your local paint store and give them that number and ask them to call their paint line's color library for a modern equivalent.
I recently was able to do that with 1935 Chevy Regimental Blue thru my local O'Reilly's and the DuPont paint system. That turned out to be the easy part. Buying 6 quarts of single stage enamel plus the components to spray the paint cost well over $1200
It's supposed to be fun!

Thanks for the advice Tim. I went that route and hit a dead end. The Dupont guy was nice and did a visual match off the Ditzler paint chip but that didn't match very well. I ended up using a 1980 Dodge color and it turned out good. Pictures to follow....
