Hello fellow DeSoto Club members!  I'm excited to have created a 1938-specific Facebook page to start amassing photos, stories, and helpful information for all of us who own 1938 DeSotos to share: https://www.facebook.com/1938DeSotoOwners/?view_public_for=110851557494657

In addition I've begun a private registry database so we can keep track of of the 1938s still in existence - as many as possible - but I'll need your help!  Here is a link to a super easy form to fill out with your information if you own a 1938 DeSoto:  https://forms.gle/YFtXmYsPLQjNzAN59

Hi Michael,

here are the numbers from the firewall tag:S586 (maybe C) - 2732     311-627      Job no 34-566. I have the serial # somewhere but not at hand. Here in Albuquerque I looked at a 38 business coupe that was for sale back before CoVid hit. I've known about the car for 2o years or so. The owner bought it out of a storage locker sale here. Car belonged to a Dr from Montana (or Wyoming). Starts, runs, stops. Painted a non standard grey color. Needs some work but definitely a fun driver. The owner is asking $25,000 and back in January that was the firm price. Told me if he couldn't get that for it, his kids could do what they wanted when he died! I haven't been in touch but I'm reaching out to see if its still for sale and will let you know.

DeSotoly yours,

Ed

@ed-katzenberger Is the car in the photos yours, or the one you were looking at?

@michael-carney

Hi Michael,

No, this car is the one for sale locally. I do not own any 38s. I have collected mostly 1942s and 1954 Coronados. 30 years ago or so I started a data base on the 42 S10. Glad you're taking this on!

 I filled out the form since I found my notes from viewing the car.

DeSotoly yours,

Ed

@michael-carney

Michael, I don't have access to a 38 parts books so I'm hoping you can tell me what the trim code 627 is.

THanks,

Ed K
