We received our 56 Firedome Sunday and it is better shape than we had hoped! Bad part is that the driver side front door handle was broken. I have secured a replacement for it but was wondering if a special tool was required? Also if there are any tid bits of information that would keep me from any pitfalls changing it I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, these do require a tool to remove the handles. You can 'probably' make something yourself to work.

Have a look at this thread that has info AND photos of how to remove the handles from the '56.

Jim,
Thanks for the reply. Now I need to see if I can "appropriate" a butter knife!
