Each year, during the NDC's annual National Convention, the club presents five Special Achievement Awards. So far this year, I have only three nominations for the SAAs. So if you've been thinking of nominating someone, or a group, for one of our SAAs, please do so soon.
Do you know a club member, or a group of club members, who have done something special for our club or for De Sotos? Perhaps she, he or they have been extra helpful in finding parts or information about De Sotos for other members. Or maybe they have helped out other members with their cars, or answered lots of questions on our club’s message board, or let non-members know more about De Sotos and our club while at car shows and swap meets.
Last year, one of our five Special Achievement Awards was given to the husband and wife pair who drove their 1949 DeLuxe woodie station wagon from CA to Ft. Wayne, IN, for our 2014 convention. Another winner, also from CA, went to the chairman of the Northern CA chapter for not only helping in keeping this chapter active, but in expanding it to include southern CA as well as AZ and NV. Other winners were for keeping our web-site and Facebook page up and running, improving our club’s magazine, and to those who hosted our 2014 convention. Examples of past winners are: parts reproduction projects, extra-ordinary membership recruitment, club projects, starting a chapter, chapter newsletter editor, dash plaque artwork, calendar editor, coordinating a gathering of De Sotos during the Carlisle All Chrysler National, driving a De Soto in a Great Race, proofreading our club’s magazine, and buying a 1950 De Soto in Colorado and driving it home to Maine.
So, if you know of an individual or a group of members who deserve a large pat-on-the-back for their special effort, please nominate them for one of our Special Achievement Awards. Each nomination for these awards should include a detailed description of what this member has done for our club or our members or our De Sotos. Please submit your nomination(s) to me by e-mailing it to nobledesoto@ameritech.net. Thank you.
