I am restoring the interior of my 1956 Firedome and have been searching for the silver vinyl welting that is used at the seams of the material. It is vinyl tubing about 3/16 or less in diameter with a silver cord running through it.
What i have found is a smaller diameter of about 1/8 diameter and it does not replicate the look properly.
I have looked all over the web and havent found any as yet. This seems to be a standard type welting that I have seen on a lot of mid-50s cars.
Maybe some of you that have done interiors can direct me to a supplier.
thanks
Mike D
According to my upholstery guy, there is no welting in the diameter that we need for the '56. He buys the smaller size, and then wraps another layer of clear vinyl over it, giving it the correct size.
If anybody knows otherwise, I'd like to know about it, too!
It's supposed to be fun!
