Sorry if this topic has been addressed before...I'm looking for the left rear (driver's side) reverse lens for the '61 DeSoto. This is the translucent lens below the tail light assembly and just above the bumper, of course. I've found a NOS Mopar lens for the right side, but the left one has been very hard to find. Frank Mitchell in Georgia says he has seen only about five of these reverse lenses in his 45 years of selling Mopar parts. I believe if he had any more of these lenses, he would be selling them for $500 apiece, or more.
I bought a reproduction set from George Laurie in Australia a year ago, but his are disappointing for the '61 (nothing like his 1960 tail light lenses, which are quite well done, if you can get them at all!). If someone has a new or very good '61 left reverse lens to supply temporarily, I would be willing to supply the NOS right one to be reproduced. Donor lenses would be returned undamaged. Mark II Enterprises in California is looking to reproduce lenses, and the '61 year might be a good low volume candidate. KPBilar in Sweden may well be another company willing to reproduce the '61 reverse lenses. There must be other '61 DeSoto owners who would love to have new lenses!
I also have a new set of '61 tail lenses, and Mark II Enterprises or KPBilar could more than likely reproduce these as well. There are also a couple of other Australian companies making lenses for many DeSotos and other makes (not George Laurie).
If anyone has any other suggestions, I would love to read them.
