I'm in the process of reassembling my Suburban and would like some advice on the best way to put it back together. Right now I have the front clip off and it's in pieces getting blasted, primed, cut in, etc.... Is it best to reassemble it in one piece and then reattach it to the cowl or do it piece by piece? When I took it off I tried doing it in one piece but if I remember it was a real chore. I'm assuming when the car was built it was put on after the body was on the frame but I'm not sure. Maybe it was attached to the body then dropped on the frame. I'll have the body on the frame and the engine and suspension installed.

Put every piece on the car one piece at a time
since you do not have "a jig". Do not tighten
any bolt until all parts are together. You may
realise that some parts are slighty out of
alignment and need some added pressure to
make it fit.
Are you going to be able to be in Reno this July ?

R&G,
Thanks for the advice. I've done several other cars, 38 Stude, 39 Packard 120, and a 48 Plymouth by building the front clip separately, leaving the bolts snug, then adjusting everything afterwards. I have to admit my DeSoto is another animal all together. It is put together with twice as many bolts and every piece has a liner where they meet. Very impressive! I can have the front clip off my Packard in 30 minutes, not so with an S11.
Sorry, can't make it to Reno. Too many irons in the fire.
