Hi can someone help me with some information on how the rear seat cushion (base) is removed from a 54 Firedome Coupe. I cant find anything in the workshop repair manual or a search on the net. Thanks

Typically, you only have to lift the leading edge of the cushion to release the "catches" from the seat riser, and then bring the cushion forward and up to bring it out of the car.
The cushion itself will have some heavy spring wire retainers that are up against the floor bracing that constitute the mounting area of the seat; it may be that you have to give the cushion a good tug in order to lift it out and overcome the spring tension. It also might help to push the cushion back while tugging.
If you're going to also remove the rear backrest, there are usually two small sheetmetal screws holding the bottom of the backrest to the floorboard, and then the backrest is lifted off the hooks that are attached to the rear package tray.
It's supposed to be fun!

Thanks Tim, figured it out pretty quickly. Much easier then iw as expecting - i typed the question, went to the car, tugged it and it came free. I had read about all the cool stuff that was found under the seats of others, so imagine my dismay when i found only a rat nest. Oh well
