Some days ago removed the old wiring out off my desoto.
Want to renew it completely.
Trying to find out what gauge wire I have tot order.
When I measure the outer diameter I measure 6,25 millimeter.
Sorry for the different units, I am from europe.
The 6,25 mm outer diameter is inclusive clothing.
Now comes the hard part, I have to convert this number to gauge.
Can anyone help me with this.
Is gauge the number just for the copper wire or inclusive clothing.

What year is your Desoto, Alex ? Rhode Island Wiring is a supplier of complete harnesses, correctly done. They can also sell bulk wire in the color and gauge that you need.

Hi Ron,

Its a 49 four door.
With a positive ground.
The intention was to buy a bunch of wires and make them myself.
This is the cheapest way I think.

If your google "wire gauge diameter chart" you should find the info you need.
