Hubby and I have had our 1957 Firesweep Sportsman now for one, fun-filled week, so we thought it was about time for us to join this site and introduce ourselves.
The previous owner of our car was Leon Haddix of Ohio. I know that some of you know Leon and know of the car. Leon took very good care of his beloved "Wild Thing" for twenty years, and now the custodianship of this great, classic car has been handed down to us. We intend to do our best to see that we do a good job of it.
The day after we picked up the car, we had the opportunity to meet other DeSoto owners at the "3-D Picnic" near Chagrin Falls, Ohio. We had a wonderful time enjoying the beautiful cars, and meeting a really nice, and very informative group of people. Special thanks to John Nosol for his help making it possible for us to attend, and for helping to make the day so enjoyable. It was especially nice to get to meet Leon in person.
We live in Kentucky, and we have had luck in locating other DeSoto owners here with the help of John, Ed Petrus, and other members of the National DeSoto Club. We are planning to take our Firesweep to a car show on Labour Day, so we're already "showing off".
I've attached a picture of our car (hope I did that right). I'll likely be bothering you all for advice on a regular basis. Glad to meet you all!

Why only set your plans on Labour Day, adjust your plans to include
July at East Ridge/Chattanooga to the National De Soto Club's
Annual Convention.
With a beauty such as yours you will admiring all "The Thumb's Pointing
Up-Ward" as you cruise to the event.

Welcome to the forum Rosemary and congratulations on your beautiful DeSoto. If you have met John Nosol, Ed Petrus and some of the other Buckeye Chapter members you already know this is a friendly group that love our DeSoto's and are willing to help with any advice we can. Roger is right about next years National Convention in Chatanooga. You aren't that far away and you will enjoy it. Here is another gathering of DeSoto's you might be interested in but it might be farther than you want to drive. The Great Lakes Chapter will be meeting at the Ypsilanti, MI orphan car show on Sept. 25th. Registration for the show must be in before Aug. 31 so if you are interested let me know asap so we can get you a form. We have some rooms blocked at a hotel for Saturday night. If you decide to come I will send info on the hotel. Les
Thank you for the welcome, Rodger, Gabby and Les. For us, Ypsilanti is only about one extra hour driving time further away than Chattanooga, so we might just have to think about attending.
