Hi,
I picked up a '50 Deluxe the other day which had been sitting in a field for a long time - it's definitely going to be a long-term (and expensive) restoration, and I'm not planning on seriously tackling it for a few years, beyond finding a few parts here and there in the meantime.
a) It's not run in a couple of years, and the wiring's totally rotted out - does anyone have a scanned image of the wiring diagram to save me working it out (and possibly dealing with non-original "fixes")? My main aim is to get it running and moving under its own power this year.
b) While the chassis and fenders are solid, the floors and rocker panels are completely shot (I'm guessing it spent a lot of time parked in tall grass) - does anyone make reproduction parts, or am I going to be looking at making my own (or possibly cutting from the shell of a donor vehicle)?
(I'm up in northern MN by the way, just in case there are any other owners in the area!)
thanks
Julian

On behalf of all that look at this site and all who are part of The National
De Soto Club - I say Welcome.
I know what you mean about the wiring. In that era the wiring was cloth
wrapped. Now it is 2014 and every time you touch it --- it breaks in another
spot.
Look to the upper left of this and in blue you will see Resources. Click on it and then go downward until you see 1950 Tech Advisor.
Their services are free to all.
If you join The National De Soto Club - the roster will show you that in Minn there
are 34 other members in your state. It will also show you the other 74 member's that have 1950 De Soto's and where they are.
Mark your Calendar for 16 July at Fort Wayne-Ind and you can see all kinds of
De Sotos and folks who have them.
