I have obtained a hood badge for my '53 PowerMaster, but I am missing the screws. I would like to find good used ones (or the thread & size info for same). The chrome is in pretty good shape. But the (two-part) insert is very marginal. I know I can purchase a replacement "rear portion" (the red & gold part) from Emblemagic (ONLY $250 !!). So I think I will first try my hand at restoring the colors to the one I already have. The most difficult task will be finding the "front portion" (the clear lens) that appears to be Lexan. The one I have is in very poor condition. Does anyone know of a replacement lens (either used or fabricated) ?
For your front lexan piece, you might go back thru these post and look for the guy that is making clear and colored replacement hood ornaments. He may be the one to contact to get a good one made as long as you can provide him your copy. I can't remember his name
I got a nice new hood badge for my 1953 Firedome from George Laurie in Australia. Once I had his name, I found contact info through another club on the Internet. Unfortunately, I have been unable to reach him for the past 5 months. We were discussing reproducing 1936 DeSoto tail light lenses. If you can contact him, he can get your a badge. This is the plastic insert that goes in the hood ornament. Note that Firedome and Custom used different hood ornaments in 53.
