The housing of my left tail light assembly is not very beatifull anymore
rechromed twice , but is has become to thin ,chrome does not hold.
However a tail light assembly for a convertible cannot be found
the compleet tail light assembly for a sedan is different ( the housing is different, and the assey also)
but these different two items will together fit also on the convertible
I have already obtained the right side assembly and I have in the meantime bought already the left housing and the left lens
so the question is a left tail light tail assy of a 1949 sedan
the metal piece.
But a compleet one will be oke too

Peter, I have some metal housings and diecast housings. As you said they are not the same as the sedan. I know of a coupe in a yard not too far from here with some as well. I think that the only real difference in the diecast (chrome) part is in one corner of the casting and it can be ground off to the shape of the convertible one.

There is a VERY high end chrome shop in Sacramento California that can fix diecast and the stuff comes out great and lasts. They are however VERY expensive and their lead times are 12-14 weeks. They do all the chrome work for the 6 figure hot rods on the west coast.

Let me know what I can do for you on this.

James

PS. I found a small foundry in South San Francisco. Would you like me to stop in and see what they would want to cast in brass the visor brackets?

James,
I missed your answer, in the beginning of july we were exploring
the east part of your country.
In the meantime i had contact with Ed Katzenberger, former owner of two 1949 convertibles.
He probably has two originall tail lights, so I will wait for pictures of these ones.
I am interested in the visor brackets.
I think Howard Payne is also interested ,
i will sent him a mail

The lowering of the front springs of your car is indeed bringing the car more
horizontal compaired to the one of my.
It has become beautifull
