Hello all,
My name is Darin, my wife and I just picked up an 1950 DeSoto Custom two door, coupe. I think it is referred to as a coupe. She saw the car and just had to have it. I have been looking for a project and this seems to fit that bill. I have work on cars for years and motorcycles and feel the mechanical and electrical stuff it no a big deal, I am trying to figure out what to do with the body work. I will try to show progress as it happens. I have had the car not even a month and I have it mostly stripped down.
He is a link of some photos:

I have some questions and I think I am in the correct place for those questions. I will open a new thread for my questions.
Oh, I am headed to Carlisle this Saturday and hope to find many of the parts I need at the moment.
Regards,
Darin Alperin
Hi, Daren;
Welcome to the forum. Lookin' forward to seeing the progress on your '50.
Lots of helpful people here on the forum, so ask away on any questions you might have.
It'd be a good idea to join the club! You'd have additional resources including the club roster where you can have contact information for other club members with cars like yours, including owners of parts cars that may be able to help you out with other parts as the need arises.

It's supposed to be fun!

As you are quikly learning, the 1950 De Soto Custom
is a "cousin" to the Chrysler Windsor.
Some Trim, some Faberic's and the size of the Six Cylinder
Engine Cubes are part of the "upper over De Soto" items.
Here is some information for you to look over. It shows
what was last year, what is now and some of the next year.

Remember the Electric's are all 6 Volt Positive Ground and
no Automatic Transmission Fluid is to be used in the Fluid
Coupling or any where else you may try to fill.
A De Soto Meeting/Convention may be a more complete visit.
