Found an insurance card wedged in the seat. The car was on the road as recent as 2000 and belonged to a James and Linda Curell of Winslow, AZ. Anybody know them? This got me wondering, what have others found in their Desotos?

There was a brown grocery bag full of broken glass. I ended up super gluing it together and it showed me exactly what my missing windshield washer bottle looked like so I could find one I knew to be original. The car is a 53 Desoto.

Casey

We have a 1947 from South Dakota. One day about five
years later I was poking around under the front left corner
of the front seat. I found a "lil Ice Scraper". If I locate
the disc that I scanned it to, I'll let you see it.

Under the back seat of my '55 Convertible, I found a large sealed envelope addressed to the dealership postmarked 1 NOV 54.

Steve: Some interesting items in that envelope

What is the dealer's name and address just in case we don't have it on on dealer's list

Bayport Garage in my hometown Bayport, MN. It's on the list. I worked there when I was a kid. I bought the car from the owner's son after they went out of business. The press kit includes glossy photos of the new car models for '55 and the DeSoto head nuts. There are model descriptions and printing plates for local newspaper ads.

Have a nice day
Steve

We bought our 55 desoto in Oct. We had only an ignition key and no truck key. It was bought at an auction. We took out the back seat and with the cross bar we could not fit to get into trunk. We reached and found a headlight which we needed, a basket full of clips which we will need soon, a large machete with a broken handle but last of all a box with 7 fifths of Scotch. We pleased all our friends by giving them a 1/5 with our story. We took the car to be painted and the small body man climbed through the trunk and got the trunk open. We now have the lock and ordered the key blank. We have not got the key made yet. The glove box and the trunk key are the same. I can't wait to fine out the mystery in the glove box. Oh we did find the tag of the last owner who died in 2009. If anyone can tell me how to trace back the history of the vehicle with the older cars I would love to know that information.

I think Somone wrote a song about that.

Here is a link to a little video I put together about the wreck of the two-tone DeSoto I put together using the 1956 images from the Binder collection.

Be sure you see the image at the end.
