im trying to find out about a car im interested in. im in ga and they can be very difficult about registering. I wont need a title but do need numbers. exactly where do I find them and what should they read? its a 37 Desoto businessmans coupe. also what type of main bearings does this engine have ? thanks john
John,
The NDC has Technical Advisors listed on the Resources page for each year of De Sotos. I see that the tech advisor for 1937 is Curt McConnell, but the address and phone number listed on the Resources page seems to be out of date. According to the club's 2014 roster, Curt's current contact info is 13031 W. Bennet Rd, Denton, NE 68339; 402-432-1179. His e-mail address is listed as curtmack1@windstream.net, but it's also listed elsewhere within the roster as being curtmack1@windstream.com; so I'm not sure which one is correct. I'll suggest you try both and see which one works. Hopefully Curt can answer your questions about your 1937 businessman coupe.
Bill
The serial number is on a small plate located either on the passenger or driver's front door pillar. In the range of these numbers for 1937
Detroit plant 5,517,301 to 5,597,700
Windsor Ontario plant 9,665,556 to 9,666,930
The engine bearings are inserts like modern cars and available at your friendly local parts store.
Have a nice day
Steve
