Was that your Adventurer at the Lindsborg show?

No but at one of the car clubs I belong to had a meeting Friday night and a Topeka resident had attended and showed me about a dozen photos he had taken and was surprised when I told him I was pretty sure I knew the origin of the car. He was fascinated with the AC system

I put the judging team together for the Lindsborg show, so we had the DeSoto as "display only". I had several opportunities to visit with people while we were judging, but wished I could have spent more time near the car.

It's supposed to be fun!

Tim,

You indicated the restoration on this 55 Fireflite would be a driver quality restoration. On another post you show a pretty complete tear down. What will be the difference between this restoration and the one just completed on the 56 Adventurer?

Mac

I used the term "driver quality" because the owner wanted to simply reinstall the interior of the car, and also to NOT do anything other than clean the trunk mat and tidy things up in the trunk.

Since then, he's decided to go ahead and do the interior, too.

We try to get major time savings by taking advantage of leaving certain sub-assemblies alone; a good example might be the bracket and hangar for the brake pedal; don't break that down into its smallest pieces, don't redo the cad plating, don't individually refinish each individual piece.......

It's my feeling that the paint/bodywork is the thing that makes the 1st impression on somebody that sees a car, so we still tear the car down on a "driver". That gives us the chance to strip the car to bare metal and start from a clean start and do the best we can.

It's supposed to be fun!

Interesting to see a 4 door being done. Nothing against them, my '51 Chevy, '57 Mercury and '59 Buick are all 4 doors, its just that most of the time no one spends any money on them.
