While passing the magazines in the store the other day, the cover photo of the June issue of "Collectible Automobile" caught my attention. It's a photo of a rather nice looking 1959 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer two-door hardtop. The article is about all of the cars made in the USA in 1959. I picked up a copy to see what they said about De Sotos. It has a short paragraph pointing out the differences between the four different De Soto models that were made that year. There's only one photo of a De Soto in this article - Galen and Fay Erb's black and gold Adventurer hardtop. The Fay's are early members of the NDC with membership #183, and won Best of Show with this car at the very first NDC convention, which was held back in 1986 in Baltimore, MD. The Fays have owned more than one '59 Adventurer over the years, and have attended many of our conventions. When they had this car with them, it usually took home a trophy. So I now have another magazine in my stack of things to read, but at least I know that this one has a photo of a really nice De Soto.
