The Spanish Gold color was introduced as one of the spring special colors which became available during the 1957 model year in time for spring. The Frosty White was available from the beginning of the 1957 model year. It would be impossible to know how many 57 models were produced with your color combination, but the fact that the gold color was not available for the entire model run would in itself reduce the numbers.
The Auto Color Library web site shows the Frosty White color on the 1957 DeSoto color chip chart. The Spanish Gold color shows as a 1957 color on the 1958 DeSoto color chart. I have no experience in ordering paint from this company.
Mac
I recall a conversation or two that I've had with Ed Petrus ('57 Advisor for the NDC) regarding the Spanish Gold "Spring Colour" (only used in 1957). We both agreed that we had only seen that colour used on Firesweeps, until just recently when a Firedome was seen for sale (on Ebay?) that had the Spanish Gold colour used on the exterior of the car.
At this time, I can't recall if the body of the car was Spanish Gold, or if it was a white (or black?) car with a Spanish Gold roof and sweep. The cowl tag confirmed that Spanish Gold was an original colour for this car. Ed would likely remember more about this than I can, and he might even have other more useful info regarding Spanish Gold paint in his rather extensive 1957 DeSoto data base.
Nice colour! I've considered using the colour myself. It reminds me of the gold used on slightly later date Belvederes ("Maize"?).
Handy chart you have there, Mac. Both you and Rosy are correct -- I've not seen many cars with that color, and used to think it was only a Firesweep color, but learned otherwise.
