Can anyone with the parts books tell me if the oil dipsticks for the various flathead six engines from the late 40s would be unique, or if they'd all interchange?

Someone I know with a '49 Dodge needs a dipstick.

Thanks,

Tim

Tim,

There are in fact different. I have a the note on it someplace.

They changed the stick and the holder in 1949.

I think I have one of each in the garage if I can find them. Do you need me to look for them and take a set of photos?

As I remember, you cannot swap the sticks without the holder.

James

Thanks, James. I think the issue must be resolved. I did some woodgrain for a guy and he was asking about a dipstick. We had thrown out several requests and he must have come up with something.
