I recently had an issue with the ignition coil on my 32 SC Sedan. It wasn't easy finding a direct replacement as it is a key switch/integrated with the coil, only used in a couple years. I was almost resigned to mounting a separate coil under the dash, as I'd seen on some forums that guys had taken that route around the problem.
I finally found a guy in Mass. who rebuilds old radios and re-manufactures electrical components. I think he does this specialty for Bernbaum, so you may be able to save few bucks going to the source. Anyways, $375 later I got the part- looks very authentic and is hooked up and working. I will have to do an extended run to really test it, as the old one worked ok as long as you didn't go too far or get it hot. So if anyone's interested, I've attached pix of the old coil/key switch, (the new one is already in the car) and the web address is: http://www.mykmlifestylemfg.com .
Very interesting Lynn, I have never seen this before. I'm glad you got it fixed.
