I am happy to join as a new member.
Browsing through the discussions I may already have found the distributor for my '54 Firedome I am looking for.
Still I want to ask if somebody knows how particular these distributors are? Might another distributor close to the required model also work/fit? What are the exact differences? I never had the chance to compare.
If none is available, is a rebuild doable?
Any 52-57 DeSoto distributor will fit in the hole, but the advance curve and vacuum advance will need to be altered for your engine.

I looked it up in my book. Best thing to get would be a '52 through '55 Firedome distributor and it should be bolt-in easy.
