I have a 1951 Custom Coupe IL6, What brake conversion kits are available. I noticed a kit on oldmoparparts, are these any good. I am in the UK and obviously i would prefer a kit that is recommended as the price plus postage will be a bit high. Would rather get good kit first time. any comments will be appreciated.
Thanks
Eric.
I don't have personal experience with disc conversions or your era of DeSoto, but I know that AAJ Brakes is one of the go-to sources for disc brake conversions for these cars. Scarebird is another option to look into as well. I hope this helps you with options to investigate.
I have used AAJ Brakes on my 60 DeSoto and 66 Dodge Polara with excellent results. One advantage with AAJ is that you can purchase the conversion parts from them and they furnish you with a parts list of the other parts needed to complete the conversion, such as rotors, pads, seals and bearings. They can be purchased locally (at least here in the USA) and avoid shipping charges for heavy items from their business. I'm not aware what you can buy locally in the UK though.
@davidfrank Thanks for your reply, will look them up.
