We went to the NSRA Street Rod Nationals in KY yesterday; an annual event that attracts over 11,000 cars. Lots to see, and lots of fun! Besides the hot rods, many vintage/classic cars also show up every year, along with almost any other sort of vehicle you can think of: rat rods, gassers, customs, motorcycles, vintage delivery vans, etc..
We met a gentleman with a '33 DeSoto (he was from Illinois). It pulled a trailer that was painted with flames.
There was a 1929 DeSoto for sale, and the owner is located about half an hour or so away from us, if anyone is interested. This car had not been "hot rodded".
The sign indicated: "all original drive train - runs and drives - clear title (Indiana) - asking price of $7,500 - phone: 812-525-9509 (Indiana)".
The other DeSoto that we found for sale was a 1948 sedan that had undergone some "changes", to say the least, but still a sharp looking car in flat black. The sign indicated: "Fatman fab. Mustang II front end with power steering/brakes - cruise control - 15x6 front steel wheels, 15x7 rear steel wheels - new upholstery, front power bucket seats - stainless gas tank - Ford 8.8 rear end with disc brakes - tilt and telescoping steering wheel - "Diamond Back" tires - "Vintage Air" air conditioning - automatic transmission - asking price $16,000 - phone 573-579-5976 (near St Louis, Missouri)".
The '29 looks like a sweet deal. You could roll in with a cash offer and land a great deal. Of course you'd have to see it in person. Oh yeah, of course you'd have to have some extra cash laying around too.
Have a nice day
Steve
