There's an auction on Saturday in Martinsburg, WV. Among the cars is a '39 DeSoto sedan (2-door?) in need of restoration but stored inside and seemingly all there. In addition there is an "outdoor" '39 DeSoto 2 door sedan for parts. If you know someone looking for such a vehicle, here is the lowdown:
tip from orphan car tour director, jon battle
That car could be a real neat project. My only concern is whether the mice got to the interior. If not, this is a real nice project even though I am not sure if the car has any rarity value. I am only providing my 2 cents worth. I can not take on another car at this time. I already have too many vehicles plus a boat that has needed repair for 10 years.
The 39 DeSoto was a wonderful car...sort of a transition car. First year for column shifting, electric overdrive and a really neat new body style. I dont know of many 2 door sedans....lots of 4 doors and coupes, so if it can be saved it should be.
I have had mine since 2007 and with the OD it is a delight to drive....its like having a 5 speed transmission.
