During our 2014 convention, a person from one of the museums in nearby Auburn suggested that we start planning to have our own De Soto museum. (One reason for this was that he just happened to know of an available building in Auburn. Of course, if we do decide to create a De Soto museum, it wouldn't necessarily have to be in Auburn.) It was recommended that a "Foundation" be formed to run this museum. This Foundation would be a seperate organization, and not part of the NDC. This Foundation would have their own members, own membership dues, etc.
NDC members could then leave their De Sotos or De Soto-related items to this Foundation; donations to this Foundation would be tax deductable.

It was also suggested that we could join with one or more of the Plymouth clubs and set up a Plymouth – De Soto museum. The day-to-day running of the museum to manage the costs and expenses would need to be covered by admissions and Foundation funds/donations.

The NDC Trustees decided that a Task Group should be formed to consider this possibility and report back to the Trustees. What we need now is someone to head up this Task Group. If you would like to be a part of this Task Group - perhaps even the leader - or just have questions about this concept, please send me a PM to nobledesoto@ameritech.net. Thanks.
