Hey everyone,

I was wondering if someone can help me in decoding what it means on my data plate? I've always been curious but just got around to getting the codes. Thank you all for your help. Have a nice weekend.

Hi Jason,

Mark Kubancik has provided some very useful information on these codes for the 55 DeSotos which can be found under the topic "55 DeSoto Fireflite Coronado" on page 7 of this discussion board. This can be found on page 2 of this topic.

Some of the lettering on your data plate is foreign to me and makes me wonder if your Firedome was built in LA. The serial numbers for 1955 LA built Firedomes ranged from 64022001 to 64026847.

The MODEL S22 indicates Firedome
Body 25 indicates 4 door sedan
Paint 384 indicates Lexington Green lower color with Surf White top and sweep
Trim 471 is unknown to me. The recommended trim code for your paint code was 451-green cloth & vinyl.

Attached ia a scan of the data plate from my 55 Fireflite Coronado.

Mac

Hi Mac,

Thank you so far in decoding what you can. My car is from Los Angeles based on the VIN and I did check it up in the parts manual and shop manual. My plate says CHRYSLER CORPORATION not DESOTO DIVISION.
