Any suggestons on clock repair for my dash mounted clock?
I believe it is a George Borg. Is it a electric mehcanical or all electric?
If I do a quartz conversion, who has been successful?

I will start with my limited "Clock Knowledge".
They are a Electrical - Mechanical Unit and all
1956 De Soto's with a Clock had one because

Most clocks can easily be brought back to service with a cleaning, light oiling, and cleaning of the points.
My former office mate and all around good guy at McPherson College has a sideline business doing those kinds of repairs. He recently went through the clock on our Adventurer.
It's supposed to be fun!

Thanks for repair leads.
Has anyone converted the dash clock to a quartz movement?
One contact who seemed familar wth the DeSoto dash mount indicated a quartz movement would not fit due the light bulb
As the car would mostly be driven in day I could sacrifice a light unless someone has worked out a smaller led type bulb or something
the electric-mechancal seems to still present the issue of , if it runs continuously the points need help after a year or so and shutting off and letting it sit during the winter sometimes it is hard to get it back in operation, unless I pick up the car and shake it.
I appreciate any quartz conversion info you folks can provide

I picked up a cheap battery op. quartz clock almost rhe exact size of the plastic dial on my 55 clock and it is about 1/4 " thick. I'm kind of looking for a cheap clock housing on ebay which I will take the guts out of and mount this thing within the chrome circle and call it good. I don't need a light and for that matter, I've never worried about the clock but this is so neat and is cased in a gold bezel. the biggest problem is that you have to take the radio and surround out to get at the clock bolts.
