I am stumped. I either need to change the center on the differential, or I need to change my axel. I would prefer changing the center.
I cannot remove the 1 1/2 inch center nut (spent four hours trying on Saturday afternoon). So, I have removed all of the nuts from around the outside of the differential. A retired mechanic for Chrysler told me that I should be able to remove the center once those nuts were removed. It moves about 1/2 inch away and then binds. What am I doing wrong? Neither my shop manual, nor my copy of Motors give me enough information about taking that piece off.
I don't get to drive to Chattanooga if I don't get this fixed - or, I come in the Charger!
Thanks
You're going to have to pull your axles out far enough to get them out of the differential, aren't you?
In the section of the FSM for removing the differential carrier, it says to remove the axles first. Can't tell from your wording whether you've done that or not.
Good hearing from you, Larry!
It's supposed to be fun!
