I am currently restoring a 1960 Desoto Fireflite sedan and i want to replace the carpet and at least the front seat.
- The carpet I have not been able to find online, I am looking for a molded carpet that is black.
- With the seats there is always the possibility of re upholstering them but I am tight with the cash right now and i think that it would just be cheaper if I used seats from a different chrysler car that fit, the color doesnt really matter. And anyone that knows where I can find swivel seats would be my hero.
So if anybody could help me find any of this stuff i would very much appreciate it, I am in the wisconsin(milwaukee) area and the closer the better.
Thanks

Hi,
Unless in the least 15 years someone has made the large investment in a stainless mold, there are no true molded carpets for 1960-1964 MOPAR products.
I found this out while restoring my two 1964 Chrysler 300K's.
The company in The South that made them for Chrysler went under about 1980. Before anyone could get to them to buy the stainless steel carpet molds there were sold for scrap.
The original carpet for those years was a nylon base with a loop rayon. The heat of the mold caused the nylon base to form to shape.
The carpet is available in flat rolls, we had to make a few cuts to get it to conform to the floor pan. We also had some success using a heat gun and used a rubber mallet with towels to get some of the corners to stretch out a bit. It was however a lot of work for a experienced upholsterer.
The cut pile black rubber back junk is available as well, but does not look even close to correct.
The floor pan of the Desoto MAY be the same as the 1960 Chrysler. If so, try Gary Goers. He is the supplier for inside stuff for the Letter Series crowd.
Good luck.
James
