Hey Good Folks,
I'm needing nominations for people to serve on the club's Board of Trustees! It's a great opportunity to serve the membership and have some influence in the direction the club takes on opportunities and challenges over the next several years.
3 trustees rotate off the board each year, so you'd be making a 3 year commitment. A couple of current trustees have been serving for several terms now, and have indicated that they'd like to bow out.
Below is the text that was submitted to the magazine. Please give it some thought!
Your 2014 NDC Trustees Need Candidates
By Tim Bowers
It’s that time of year again. Not only to start thinking about which car shows you’ll go to this year and how much fun our 2014 National Convention will be, but also about being one of our club’s trustees. Each year, three of the nine trustee positions are up for election. And each year we elect, or re-elect as the case may be, three members to our board of trustees for a three-year term. It is these members who have the most significant influence on how and where our club’s future is going. And now is your chance to become one of those board members.
If you have ideas, hopes, projects, etc. that you’d like to see in our club’s future (or if you just don’t like the way that the current trustees are doing the job and you’d like to see a change), then step up and nominate yourself for one of these trustees positions. All you need to do is to write a paragraph on why you should be one of our club’s trustees. You should include any activities in the past that you’ve done for our club as well as your hopes and plans for our club’s future.
Having a home computer and being connected to the internet are not requirements for being a trustee, but it does make it easier, especially for our club’s secretary. The board packets are usually sent out and responded to via e-mail, which makes for a much quicker turn-around time.
So please send your write-up to me by 15 April, 2014 by either regular mail or via e-mail. I’ll collect these nomination write-ups and combine them into a ballot that each member will receive in the mail.
One reason that I ran for trustee is that I wanted to have a way to contribute to the club’s future. Hobby wide, clubs are facing the challenge of finding the “next generation” of enthusiasts. Additionally, I know that the Board has been staffed by committed group of people that care deeply about the NDC and that the number of new volunteer candidates has been on the decline in recent years. Stepping out and being a part of the NDC is a way to bring fresh ideas and new opportunities to the club’s membership. You feel good knowing that you’re helping out your fellow club members. So here’s your chance to help out and feel good doing it. If you have any questions about how to become a trustee, or about being a trustee for our club, please contact me; thanks.

TWO DOWN - ONE TO GO!!
Tim tells me that he's gotten two members to nominate themselves for the next three-year term for NDC Trustees. He just needs one more, and we can close nominations and declair victory.
A few years ago, we had only two nominations and we ended up getting a third member to volunteer during our convention Board meeting. While this may end up happening again this year, I'd hope that someone would step up an volunteer before the convention - it just makes things go easier if we don't have to deal with and worry about this issue while we're at the convention.
So if you've been considering nominating yourself for NDC Trustee, please don't wait any longer; thanks.
