I do not know what an "auto radio" is. Please provide more information. Thank you.
Are you just asking for a radio of the year/era or are you looking for some other radio?
Hola Sir
The 1949 - 1950 De Soto and Chrysler's both used a Model 604 or Model
808 in Both Divisions - for both Production Years.
For every two Model 808's they sold - they sold 27 plus Model 604's in 1949 or
1950. As "Re-placement Radio's" were later sold - The Buyers Choice was
The Model 808.
If you have a Right Hand Drive --- The number's are different.
The difference from one division to the other was the Decorative Design/
Style of The Control Knobs.
The Entry Level Radio Antenna was 60 inches and The better as 90 inches.
We hope this helps you.

If you have an 808, or buy one, I happen to remember someone here posting some radio catalog pages a long time ago. I was scared the links would go dead over time so I put them on wikia. I only have the 800-series radios.
and when you get that radio, do yourself a favor and have Tim Bowers friend in Kansas hook up an iPod docking cable......So worth it!!!!
From the pictures your car is a Desoto Diplomat which in that timeframe were Plymouth based with Desoto like grilles and trim. Please post a picture of the front end of your car
Where are you located?
I would think a 1949 or 1950 Plymouth radio would be the one you should be looking for
Tim what do you think?
Yikes, if you were talking to me Bob, I'm not an interchange expert, but what you said makes sense!
It's supposed to be fun!
