While my wife was looking up things for us to see between Ohio and St. Paul on our way to the NDC/WPC convention this year, she came across the DeSoto House Hotel in Galena, IL. They claim to be "Illinois' Oldest Operating Hotel" having started in 1855. Per their web-site, the hotel has recently been restored. Also, per their web-site, it would not be inexpensive to stay there. I was just wondering if anyone else was planning on staying there on their way to the NDC/WPC convention. Or if someone has already stayed there and has an opinion as to whether or not it's worth it. We haven't made any reservations yet, but will probably try to stay there on our way to St. Paul (since we have a few days to get there) instead of on our way home (when we have only a couple of days to travel).

Thanks for the info about the hotel, Bill.
We will likely be taking a route that will place us fairly close to that hotel, so we just might look into staying there. We should be able to take our time getting to the convention, so a little side trip or two just might be in order.
We haven't finished our planning yet so who knows, maybe we'll be seeing you at The DeSoto!
