One of our regular participants has been having some log-in difficulties, getting a message similar to "You exceeded the maximum allowed number of login attempts. In addition to your username and password you now also have to enter the CAPTCHA code from the image you see below."
Has anybody else experienced this?

There is probably a maximum number of login attempts allowed by the software before it asks for an additional piece of information. This is 'by design' so that the message board doesn't get hacked and consequently spammed by 'bots' marketing shoes, illegal drugs, etc.
I would reset his password and have him log in using that password. Or there may be a feature that allows him to reset his own password after he answers a security question.

I think you're right, Ron.
From the reading I've been doing on forums about forums, I should be able to reset his log-in attempts to zero, but I'm becoming more convinced that I might not have full access to everything yet.
I can log in on his account just fine from my computer. He's tried PC, Mac, Explorer,
Firefox.......
I've reset his password in the past, and I think it's worked for him briefly. Now, he's getting the message after just one log-in attempt, although he's entering his log-in info correctly.
Rick warned me that one of his biggest frustrations was not being able to seewhat people were doing. I think this is a good example.

The problem is likely on his end...the way he's typing in his userid and password. Both the userid and password fields are case sensitive, which means tim, Tim, TIM and tIM are all different. You need to convey that to him, especially since you can log in to his account without problems.
