Hello there. I'm not really new, as I was #3171 in the club back in the 90s, when I subscribed to the newsletter. I currently do not own a DeSoto, but I do have a 1956 Chrysler 300B that I'm restoring, and my eyes are open at all times to other opportunities, even though my driveway space is extremely limited. (full) I've owned a 58 Firesweep HT (strong 3#/my first car), and also a 1961 HT with factory A/C, a rusty resto project that never got off the ground. If anyone has a lead on a possible buyer for my B, have them contact me at cattroop7@hotmail.com. I'm a DeSoto enthusiast. My Dad's first car was also a Desoto, a '32 sedan that he wrecked on a rainy night, injuring one of his friends. Dad went on to not be loyal to ANY make. I'm strictly Mopar, except for the two Volvos that we drive on a daily basis. I have no problem with this fact, given how fond the Swedes are of Chrysler products.
Welcome back!
The 300B has one of my favorite grille treatments.
It's supposed to be fun!
1949 De Soto Custom Convertible (project)
Thanky Tim. I'm not a big fan of this grillle, but it'll work. I have ideas about acquiring a Windsor grille and front panel, and some '56 DeSoto taillights, making a kind of hybrid, I suppose. We'll see.
Welcome home, Jim!
Sounds like you've had some interesting and great cars!
Indeed I have. Other than the DeSotos, I've owned 4 Plymouths; a '56 Savoy 2HT, a 59 Belvedere 4HT, a 64 Valiant V-8 4dr sedan, and a 74 Scamp 2HT; 3 Chryslers; a 57 Saratoga 2HT, a 65 Newport 2HT that had a column shift 3-speed (factory), and a 300L that I sold to a guy from the Pittsburgh area; and two 63 Imperials; a 2HT and a convertible that had tons of bondo and a bad engine. The 300B that I'm working on will be my last resto.
Wowza! That's a great group of cars.
Would love to have any of them; I'm fond of the '64 Valiants too.
I bought that one cheap, as it needed a water pump, I think. It was a solid Phoenix car. White with a blue interior, push-button. I fixed it, drove it for a while, then sold it to my carpool co-worker who didn't have a car. As far as I know, he took it to Atlanta when he moved there. S.O.B. owes me $800.
