I recently acquired a model 1750 AMMCO brake gauge. Unfortunately it did not come with instructions. Can anyone out there e-mail a copy to me at <hammond1@shaw.ca>. Thanks in advance - Gary

Give me a couple of days and I will scan it and send it off to you. If I get busy, remind me in a few days.

Paul,

The Desoto (Lockheed) brakes use a floating heel anchor. Without a gauge or some other way, there is no way to do a proper adjustment.

Go read this if you have not already:

Paul: The AMMCO brake gauge (please excuse the Canadian spelling) is used to accurately set the brake shoes on non-servo type brake technology used on Chrysler vehicles from the thirties until the mid-fifties (servo type technology allows the brake shoes to be self-centering). The gauge first measures the drum diameter, then by changing the configuration of the gauge's parts, it is attached to the axle spindle to set the brake shoes. I find setting these non-servo brakes to be a real pain in the butt (which includes removing the rear brake drum). If you Google p15-d24 work in progress you should be able to find a really comprehensive description on setting the non-servo brakes.

Here you go. If it is too hard to read let me know and I will drag out my flatbed scanner and scan it.
