I just opened my latest issue of New Mexico Magazine, and after a few pages, I see a familiar face, Amanda Kooser.
In the article, it tells about her 1956 Desoto Fireflite, and cruising Route 66.
I have an autographed poster of her band, Edith Grove, that I obtained from her, at the Convention in Albuquerque a few years back.
The article also describes her new album as well as her book.
It is a small world. Good luck Amanda !
Since I attended that Convention, which was my first trip to the SouthWest, I have returned to Albuquerque 4 times, and plan on doing so again this Fall. We love the area.

Hi Mark! That's very sweet that you recognized me. My day job is as a journalist. I wrote that article for the magazine on The Handsome Family, an excellent local band. I wanted to make sure I got a DeSoto mention into the writer's bio section. I live just a few blocks off Route 66, so I'm in prime classic car country here.
A little more DeSoto news from ABQ: Long-time NDC member Don Braman passed away a few years ago. His family recently sold his Airflow to a local car buff and just a week ago, I purchased his pink and lavender '56 Fireflite sedan. I already have a green and white '56 sedan, which I'll be selling. I'm going to keep The Pink Panther. It's in pretty good shape, mostly just needing attention to some trim pieces and the front bumper.
