Hello!
Have anyone a Idea how much hp a MCl-6109 starter for a 1951 6 cylinder engine have?
My starter is dead.I build a 6 Volt Bosch starter in the car.First experiment the Engine turns to slow.I think the starter has not enough power (0,8 hp).
Thank you
Orlof

Hola Orlof

Are you using a 6 Volt Gage of Battery Cables or are they a 12 Volt Gage ???

6 Volt's are about the same gage as what is used with an Arc Welder.

Hello!
The cables are new and very big size ,special for 6 Volt.I have a extra cable from Engine positive to the starter bolts.I think the bosch starter have not enough power (0,8hp).The engine is complete rebuild.I think the starter must work a little bit harder to turn the engine.
The battery is good (120AH).I don´t find any Information about the original Autolite starter (how much hp). Here in Germany I don`t find parts to repair the Autolite starter. When you find a dealer it is very expensive and you wait weeks .
Thank you for any Information
Orlof
