On page 44 of the Hemmings March issue is a nice two-page article about the 1958 De Soto Firemites. Several neat photos and the article frequently quotes NDC member Lee Exline. The only thing I found wrong with this article was its sub-headline, which reads, "In 1958, most De Soto dealers sold 16 models. Some offered 16 3/8." By my count, there were 18 De Soto models up for sale in 1958, not counting the Firemites. I don't know if the author forgot the two Adventurer models, or that there were four station-wagon models. Since my Letter to the Editor correcting their 1955 De Soto article was in last months issue, I'll let someone else write to Hemmings about this.
I am just glad to get the information published in the magazine. I helped with information regarding the Firemites and will not sweat the math error on the part of the author. Two pages on Desoto's in every issue is our goal right?
