I recently acquired a set of wire wheel covers for my 55 DeSoto hardtop. They were made by 'cello', I believe, who made them for numerous makes in this era. They had three components - a 'mini' hubcap unique to the make, a generic wire wheel basket and a unique 'bucket' to match up up to a specific wheel shape, size and bolt pattern. After considerable searching on the internet, I've determined that the buckets are interchangeable but are stamped with a code to indentify the correct application. I'm quite sure that '34' is correct for a 55 DeSoto as they fit well. I was disappointed, however, in that I had no success in finding a list that unlocks the codes. As I'd like a spare unit and more specifically a replacemet bucket, I'd like to understand whether '34' is unique to DeSoto, or whether, for instance, '34' applies to other Chrysler products as well of this era. At this point, I am reluctant to buy anything that isn't '34'. Any thoughts or comments would be appeciated.
