The seal on the very new rebuilt water pump allows grease to spin around and get onto the water pump belt. Am I over greasing this, using the wrong grease, or is the rebuild no good? I am just using regular grease that I use on the chassis.
the manual i have plus a Motors Auto repair manual both say to lubricate every 2,000 miles using water pump grease, they also says do not use chassis grease
Water pump grease is different stuff. Really thick, almost like bee's wax. I don't know where you can find it. We had a little grease gun just for that which had a screw in thing to drive the grease. A couple turns and it was done.
That's what you need.
Good Luck
Steve
Thank you Rex and Steve. I wonder if any of the rebuilders grease them with the right stuff. I will do Google search to see what I can find.
