Going to look at a car this Saturday and I'd like to see if the engine will turn over. Going to try to take a 6v battery but, in case the starter doesn't work or engine is too hard to turn over by pushing the fan, what size socket/wrench should I take to try to turn the engine over?

The crank bolt on my S-13 is a whopping 1 5/8" !!! The pully flange is so tiny.....

I don't even have anything that big in my tool box.

It's supposed to be fun!

That's... big. Largest I have is 1 1/8" SAE and 32mm (1 1/4") sockets and a 1 1/2" wrench. Guess I can hit up a parts store.

I have a monkey wrench that'll go that big, though 8)

There's a slim chance I have a combination wrench that size. I'll look tomorrow.

It is hard to get the socket onto the head as long as the little bolts are in place that hold on the pulley on a flathead six. You can start to pull and the thing will slip off as it is not all the way down due to the little bolts. Be careful if you slip you can cut yourself up.
