Hi Don, I looked at mine today. On the inside of the trunk there are 2 studs with nuts holding them on. I know the crome pieces do not have studs on them. So without taking mine off the car, I checked the parts book.
It said there is a" bolt and clip assembly". One for left, and one for the right side.
Some how these pieces fit together and bolts to the body.
