Just purchased a 1959 Firesweep Conv. My trim is 406. Can someone help with color. My seats are light brown with white boltster. Boltster is front of bottom seat and top of seat back??????
Paint code is xxx1...car is Flamingo Pink over Black.
Is there any engine identification and where is it located. My engine has a 4 barrel carb which I think is wrong.
What should casting numbers be and where are they?
Is there a site that I can go to that will give a break down of the codes?

Hope I did not ask too much, thanks.

Frank (570 698 0710 if you prefer to call, would be happy to call if someone wishes to give me their number)

Hello, Frank. Welcome and congratulations on your purchase of a really great car!

Maybe the NDC's technical advisor for the 1959 models could help:

The trim code 406 on a 59 Firesweep convertible was for red all vinyl trim.

On the paint codes for sedans and hardtops, the XXX code would be for a car with a pearl white top, pearl white body, and a pearl white sweep. The letter code for flamingo pink was N. The letter code for black was A. I am not sure how the color of the convertible top was indicated on the code for a convertible. If your car was originally flamingo pink and black it seems the letters N & A would appear in your paint code. A picture of your car's data plate would be helpful.

xxx1 on the data plate says the car was originally all pearl white. As Mac said the body would be pearl white. Does your car have one chrome line or two? Two lines would create a sweep and a natural place for a constracting color, notwithstanding if your car has 2 lines of chrome, it would be white between the lines

406 is a red and black Custom vinyl interior, red bolster at the edges by the knees and a ribbed black pattern where you sit. There should be a deep V pattern where your back hits the seat

Your data plate should say 415 somewhere which is DeSoto Firesweep convertible

Your VIN shoud look like M412 1xxxxx which is 1959 DeSoto Firesweep made in Detroit (Dodge Main)

Engine would be a 361 2bbl
