From discussions over on the Forwardlook website forums, the green tape is a decal with "12v" on it, apparently to notify service people at the time that they were dealing with a 12 volt horn rather than the more common (I assume) 6 volt horns of the era.

Workin' on making them, too.

Dave Tyjeski has returned my email, and confirms your version of the story regarding the horn wiring. Amazing that you both can be wrong like that...... :roll:

I guess I'm going to wire up a ground wire, and now I have to buy the entire forum's silence that it might not be "correct".
