Has anyone ordered rubber recently to replace for front and back windshields for a 1955 DeSoto Firedome hardtop sedan? I went through Steele rubber's catalog and web site and they don't carry them for my car. Also if possible, rubber for the windows as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Jason
We are sending a section of the rear windshield rubber that we just removed from our '55 Fireflite 4 door sedan project to Steele.
From a visual inspection, I think it is the same profile as the rear weatherstrip they sell for the '56 2 door hardtop. If anything, it is different in length. We've made a template of the rear glass. They are going to compare our sample to what they have and then advise as to whether they can reproduce the rear seal.
They don't carry anything for the front glass, so I'm less optimistic that Steele can solve the same dilemma you and I have regarding the front. Our front weatherstrip was quite brittle, and despite our best attempts to be careful, some of it came apart when we removed the front glass.
Gary Goers should be able to fix us up with door weatherstrip.
It's supposed to be fun!

Thanks Tim for the information. Can you keep me posted on what Steele has to say for the ones you sent in?
